You do not have to landscape the whole area of your garden to alter the look and layout. For many householders, this can seem a very daunting task, not to mention also time-consuming and expensive. However, you can effect changes to your garden by concentrating on working on one small area at a time.
Some ideas for suggested projects may include:
- Constructing a small barbecue or patio area by using block paving or paving slabs.
- Creating a water feature. It need not be very large. Even a small pond, waterfall or fountain can add interest to a garden, as well as being an added attraction for birds, frogs, newts and insects.
- Build raised planters, using railways sleepers or other timber, bricks or stone.
- Create steps leading from one level of the garden to a lower level. Ideal materials may include timber, railway sleepers, stone, brick or paving slabs.
- Set up a pergola or garden arch. This can be an excellent way of separating different areas of the garden.
- Construct a rockery and plant an array of alpine plants and heathers.
- Break up large areas of lawn, flower bed or vegetable patch with a narrow path.
