With summer on its way, many of us at looking forward to being able to get outside and enjoy our gardens. As lockdown restrictions begin to be eased, we can now start to socialise with others in our private gardens, so you will want to make the most of the outside space you have available.
IF you do not have a patio area then why not look at laying some slabs or even creating a decking area where you can set up your garden furniture. You need to think carefully about what furniture you want to have as if you want to be able to eat outside then you may want to have a proper table and chairs dining set rather than loungers. Some people choose to have both and have a place where they can eat and then another place where they can relax around a log burner.
If your garden looks a little dull, then why not invest in some plants. Plants can instantly add colour to any garden and can transform bare patches. If you do not have any flower beds or do not want to have to weed large areas then you may decide to use plant pots. The advantage of plant pots is that they can be moved around to different areas of the garden with ease.
If you have children or often have grandchildren who visit, then you may want to have an area which is set up for them. If you have swings then make sure they are securely in the ground as often they can lift when they are used. Often lots of children’s outdoor furniture is brightly coloured and made from plastic. Some people don’t want all this plastic in their garden. If this is the case, why not make a rope swing from the branch of a tree. Just be sure to check that it is sturdy and can carry the weight. You may also want to build a tree house. If you use natural material like wood and straw, you can often blend it in to the garden so that it doesn’t stand out too much.
If your garden has been neglected for some time then you may need to call in the experts, especially if you are not one for gardening. You may need a bit of help getting back on top of the gardening after the winter. Once it is at a more manageable stage you can then take it over again if you wish. If you are not a keen gardener or find that you do not have the time, then make sure you opt for something that is lower maintenance as this will make it easier to manage.
