Advantages on having a greenhouse

Greenhouses have become much more affordable these days and many keen gardeners, even with quite modest gardens, have a greenhouse positioned in their garden.

Having a greenhouse means that you will be able to start growing seedlings earlier in the year.  By the time, they are ready to be planted outside they will have grown sturdy and strong and are therefore more likely to be successful.  This, often saves money in the long run, as you are less likely to need to go out and replace plants which have not survived bad weather or an infestation of slugs!  A greenhouse will protect new seedlings from late frosts, torrential rain or strong breezes.  During the Spring, birds will often dig up new seedlings when hunting for bugs and insects in the soil but this is unlikely to happen if you start your seedlings in a greenhouse.  A greenhouse will also help protect plants, especially vegetables, from air born pests like cabbage moths.  A greenhouse is often the best place to grow tomatoes and most gardeners find tomatoes grow much larger under glass.
